LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY: M.C.L 791.201 et seq.; 1953 PA 232 and E.R.O. 1991-12 (M.C.L. 791.302)

DESCRIPTION: The Department of Corrections Bureau Health Care Services is responsible for the health care needs of inmates. Twenty clinical complexes at various correctional facilities across the state provide routine health services. The Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson cares for prisoners from across the state as a part of the Jackson Clinical Complex. Hospital care outside the internal system and specialty medical services is provided through a managed care provider. (See Managed Health Care Services for Prisoners.)
