| DESCRIPTION: |
Services provided by the Divisions of Infectious Diseases and Chemistry and Toxicology of the State Health Laboratory include identification and monitoring of infectious disease agents, the tracking of "new" or unusual disease agents, and the development and evaluation of new methods for detecting them. The laboratory performs tests for elevated lead levels. It also tests for any of seven genetic and metabolic diseases in newborns. |
