LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY: Federal Public Law 98-527; Michigan Executive Order 1984-3

DESCRIPTION: The 21 member Council is established according to federal law and is entirely funded with Federal funds, 65% of which must be used for services to persons with developmental disabilities. In Michigan, these support pilot and demonstration projects. The Council advocates for persons with developmental disabilities, develops and implements a state plan to improve and expand services, establishes local coordinating committees, and reviews and approves plans for statewide protection and advocacy.
