LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY: Executive Orders 1991-20 and 1996-2

DESCRIPTION: This office is responsible for the receipt, distribution and oversight of Federal Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Formula Grant funds for drug law enforcement, prosecution, treatment, education and prevention programs. It also administers funds from the Federal Department of Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act. Grants are directed at efforts to reduce the supply and demand for illegal drugs; reduce delays in court delays; improve drug testing in prisons and jails; provide drug education in schools; and, to improve computer technology.
