LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY: Title 21 of the Federal Social Security Act; Department of Community Health Appropriations Act

DESCRIPTION: MIChild is a Federally funded insurance program (Title 21 of the Social Security Act) for non-Medicaid eligible children who live in situations where income is less than 200% of poverty. It covers: regular checkups; shots; emergency care; dental care; pharmacy; hospital services; prenatal care and delivery; vision and hearing; and, mental health and substance abuse services for children through age 18. Coverage costs $5.00 per family per month.
