| DESCRIPTION: |
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act and two statutes governing asbestos licensing and accreditation require employers to meet certain standards in the conduct of their operations. Additionally, the state inspects general and construction work sites, conducts investigations of accidents, complaints and referrals and issues citations where indicated. Occupational injury, illness and fatality data are collected and analyzed and safety education and training are provided through literature, seminars and training programs. A Standards Commission and two advisory committees are established by statute. |
